Cruise Nights
What are Cruise Nights? Cruise Nights are local
car shows or car gatherings sponsored by local car clubs and
area restaurants. They are normally held in the parking lot of
the sponsoring restaurant in the afternoon or evening, on
Saturdays or Sundays from March or April through October or
November. Sometimes area auto dealers and auto parts houses
sponsor them also.
A small
fee, usually from $10 to $20, is charged for each vehicle shown.
Cars, trucks and motorcycles are entered into classes that can
range from the type of vehicle (chevy, ford, sports car, custom
rod, ie) or the year the vehicle was built. Vehicles can range
from your daily driver to custom jobs that are only driven to
shows or on weekends. Judging is normally done by the
contestants, but also can be done by judges and can be
subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Awards,
usually trophies or plaques, are given out to 1 S\ 2nd, and
sometimes 3rd place winners in each class plus sometimes best of
show or other special awards. Dash plaques and other goodies are
usually given to all entrants, and some shows have raffles and
other giveaways.
Even if you don't want to enter your car, Cruise
Nights are a lot of fun to go see,
and will bring back fond memories of your younger
days when you went cruising on Saturday night in your 69 Camaro.
I hope to see lots of new-cruisers this year at the local Cruise
Nights, so go to the
calendar
on this site and look and see which one is close to you and
GO CRUISIN!! !
