Each year Lone Star Corvette Club hosts a 3-day Corvettes-only event at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas: the Lone Star Corvette Classic.  Hundreds of lovers of America’s Sports Car gather for a car show, track events, food and fun.  In addition to the enjoyment of beautiful automobiles and camaraderie, this annual event affords LSCC the opportunity to give back to our community, in the form of charitable contributions.

In 2010, the recipients of charitable contributions from LSCC will be:

Speedway Children’s Charities:  Since 1997, Speedway Children's Charities, Texas Chapter has distributed more than $6.7 million in funding to children's organizations surrounding Texas Motor Speedway. In 2009, the Texas Chapter distributed over $1,000,000.00 to children’s organizations that meet the direct needs of children across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The dollars raised go to directly help children in our community. Children's organizations in Collin, Dallas, Dentonand Tarrant counties are eligible to apply for the Speedway Children's Charities' annual grant.

Komen 3 Day Walk for the Cure: The Komen 3 Day Walkis a chance to make a difference by raising money for research, education and community support for the more than 200,000 women and 1,500 men who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. The event is a 3-day, 60 mile walk, with each participant not only walking but agreeing to raise at least $2,300 to help find a cure for this disease, because everybody deserves a lifetime. LSCC members will support the event not only through our charitable contribution, but also by walking, raising additional funds through car shows and other activities, and cheering the walkers on during the 3 day event.  Read Curt Troster's story.

National Corvette Museum:  Since 1953 the Corvette has been America's Sports Car. The NationalCorvetteMuseumwas established as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit foundation with a mission of celebrating the invention of the Corvette and preserving its past, present and future. The Museum is a living, growing organization inspiring generations of Corvette enthusiasts through public tours and special events onsite and across the country. Contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations are essential to support core operations, maintain the Museum's outstanding collections and facilities, and further expansion efforts.

Make A Wish Foundation:  LSCC includes rides in member’s Corvettes around the track at Texas Motor Speedway as a main event at our annual Classic event.  Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation®has given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions. In the fiscal year 2009, MAW granted the heartfelt wishes of 13,465 children, the most ever in a single year.

Cedar Valley Community College: LSCC has established an annual scholarship fund at this college, a member of the Dallas County Community College District.

"On behalf of Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas, thank you so much for providing this opportunity for our wish kids.  Many of them would never have a chance to step inside Texas Motor Speedway, let alone ride around the track, if it weren’t for the Lone Star Corvette Club."

"THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Jordan had a blast today! Thank you for inviting our family. This was especially special for us because Jordan has had two more surgeries since his wish adventure in 2008 and he was able to "let his hair down" and have some WILD fun today. We made sure we thanked the Corvette Club members for volunteering their time and cars for us to have a great morning!"

"Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to be part of the Corvette Classic Event. Please express our sincere thanks to driver Terry Walker who drove Christopher today. He had a blast.  He can't wait to share his experience with his friends at school."

"Thank you for inviting us to spend the day at the Speedway and for providing rides to the kids. Dylan is wearing his Corvette Classic t-shirt to school today and plans to tell about the adventure during ‘Share Time’. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, cars, race track time and day to allow all of us to have a very special day. We truly appreciate it!"
